History
The Atlanta Institute of Clinical Neuroscience (AICN) was incorporated in 2000 as a not-for-profit educational institution in Georgia and is authorized under the Nonpublic Postsecondary Educational Institutions Act of 1990 to award a professional master's degree.
AICN grew out of an intensive effort on the part of Southern Neurophysiology, LLC, to train new employees to "above CNIM" standards. Over a three year period, the senior level staff developed a course of study that provided high-level expectations for Southern Neurophysiology employees.
Reflections on the evolution of Intraoperative Monitoring and conversations with surgeons, led Southern Neurophysiology to sponsor the formation of AICN.
The academic and clinical expectations of students are high. The
classes provide students an in-depth education. The clinical practicum experiences present students with increasingly complex clinical cases. After approximately three semesters, students are expected to pass the
CNIM exam. As soon a practical, graduates of AICN's program are expected to pass the
ABNM exam.
